Clip-in Horse Tail by Thef

The clip-in tail XL (also called a tail toupee or swap tail) is perfect for shows and competitions. With the clip-in tail you have a beautiful tail extension for your horse in no time.

The biggest advantage, of course, is that the tail toupee can also be used for several horses with the same colour. The tail toupee can be used for years with proper care.

The clip-in tail with a fabric loop

This clip-in tail has a cotton loop at the top and a natural graduation of the hair.  The hair is knotted in layers, so the tail becomes somewhat wider right from the top.

Does your horse have a different colour? Don't panic! We can supply almost any colour. You can also send us a photo of the tail via WhatsApp so we can determine the right colour together.

We have most clip-in tails in stock. If a tail is not in stock, the delivery time is approximately 14 days.

Fitting and caring for the swap tail

The swap tail with fabric loop is quick and easy to attach in the hair.

You simply attach the swap tail with a few braids to the tail of your own horse. This gives the tail much more volume.

In the beginning it is important to keep in mind that a swap tail can feel strange to the horse. So always let your horse get used to walking with its new tail a few times beforehand.

You can comb, care for and wash the tail toupee like a real tail.

Tail bag

Our tail bags are specially made to protect your Thef clip-in tail.

The bag is made of durable cotton and made to measure. There is a zip at the front and a loop at the top of the tail bag to hang it up. On the inside there is a hook on which you can hang the tail.

This way you protect your clip-in tail from dust and dirt and enjoy it for years!

When do you use a clip-in tail for your horse?

A clip-in tail is ideal for horses with a thin, damaged or sparse tail. Whether your horse has rubbed its tail, a foal has nibbled at the tail, or the tail simply does not look full enough for a competition or a show — the clip-in tail gives immediate volume and length without permanent changes.

Because the swap tail is attached with a simple loop and a few braids, you don't need to call in a specialist. Your horse quickly gets used to it and can simply move, be ridden and swish flies away.

Caring for the clip-in tail

The clip-in tail is made of 100% real horse hair and can be cared for like a real tail — combing, washing and conditioning. Store the clip-in tail after use in the included tail bag to protect the hair from dust and tangles. With the right care, a THEF clip-in tail lasts for years and is also suitable for several horses with the same colour.
